I just want to express my sadness about the Heaven and Hell tour... Like the guy on Reunion album said: Ozzy and Black Sabbath, they're the fucking best!! But I think I will buy a ticket to see Iommi and Butler live once in my life because they are ones of metal's Gods. I know that a lot of people here loves Dio and post-Ozzy era but... to me it's important to share my deception about Heaven and Hell tour instead of the original Black Sabbath. I still ask myself why they didn't came in Canada when they toured... anyway.

Sorry to hear about your prejudice on Dio era Sabbath.

Ozzy is making an album or two with Zakk Wylde and planning to tour in Europe next summer (confirmed at least for Hultsfred festival in Sweden).

Ozzy, I don't mind him-yes I'd rather hear an Ozzy song than anything that comes on the radio-but if your putting him into competition with Ronnie James Dio or Glenn Hughes-He doesn't stand a chance to me!
I shead a tear of joy when I saw that the current line up (on this site) of Sabbath DIDN'T have Ozzy in it!
Black Sabbath is a name-it's a band, not Ozzy bloody Osbourne-he was canned because he was on a lot of drugs! In reality it's Tony's band and he kept it together, even though he could have bailed out in the late 80's-but he kept strong and every verson deserves the name Black Sabbath because they did so well! Tony Martin did as best as he could do and it was great. Headless Cross is a classic! Ian Gillan, sure Purple Sabbath, ha ha ha, but you can't deny that Born Again rocked the shit out of anything Ozzy did-I'd like to see Ozzy sing something like "Trashed" or "Hot Line". Ozzy did have a good image for the band and I'll admit that, but Ronnie has something Ozzy doesn't...
That's all from me-can't wait for Heaven and Hell!!

Maybe Ozzy has less power in his voice than Dio but, my point is that the best albums from Black Sabbath are the 6 first albums (I will not included Technical Ectasy and Never Say Die! because it really not sounds like Sabbath before...)and each member put of his own in the songs. Anyway it depends of the tastes... (or maybe it's me who are a little bit to close about the other eras!) Anyway, I'm happy for you because Black Sabbath with Dio seems to be your favorite era and I would cry of happiness too if it would be Ozzy in the line up hehe. I hope you a great show and to every post-Ozzy era fans (even if I cross my fingers to see Ozzy with Black Sabbath someday ...)

That's not a point. It's an opinion. I actually happen to agree with it, but at this point, I'm grateful that they've finally decided to tour without Ozzy again. The guy is in rugged shape, he can't be arsed recording new material, and refuses to venture outside of the same 8 or 9 songs they've been playing since 2001. Hell, 2005, I remember them talking about trying out some lesser-played tunes on tour. What did they give us? They put The Wizard back into the set, and added Sleeping Village, which isn't much of a song in the first place.

Dio, in spite of being a senior citizen at this point, can still sing, and recorded 3 new songs with Tony in just a couple months. As long as they mix up the setlist a bit more than in '92, I think it'll be a killer show.

As far as seeing another tour with songs that were old before most people here were born. I would love to because those songs are timeless and i'm sorry that I too missed the original Sabbath revolution.

Yes, I agree. Its still The Black Sabbath for now--now known as Heaven and Hell. But don't you see why? Its because the classic origin of the group's name Black Sabbath, will always be synonymous with four names: Tony, Ozzy, Geezer and Bill.

Black Sabbath with Ozzy were inducted into the Hall of Fame. I do believe Sabbath is Ozzy and Ozzy is Sabbath.

The original Sab's are where it all began. There is no denying what these 4 guys created had a huge impact on music and audiences everywhere and Ozzy's image and voice was the perfect match for the music Sabbath was cranking out.

I know I will be called close-minded but i'm not, really. I have listened to the other singers and watched them perform, but its like there is something missing. <span style="color: #3333FF">The magic that <u>only</u> Ozzy can deliver.</span> Sabbath without Ozzy is still a great band- Iommi is THE guitar god-,but Sabbath with Ozzy is just phenomenal! Even if Ozzy don't sing as good as Dio can, Ozzy has a presence on stage that is unmatched by anyone who stands in front of that mic with Sabbath.

    Iommi = Black Sabbath. Period.

I love the Ozzy era stuff. Trust me, that music is Scripture to me. I know those albums down to every pop and hiss. If Ozzy and Sabbath went on tour and really mixed up the set list with some of the more obscure Ozzy era stuff, sign me up. Think heavy on the Sabbath Bloody Sabbath and Sabotage era stuff, with a few songs from Never Say Die and Technical Ecstasy sprinkled in.

But we haven't gotten anything truly exciting from this line-up since...well...1998. Almost a decade. Playing the same eight songs at a few summer shows every year isn't progress. It's Stagnation, and makes the band nothing more than a tired nostalgia act. Look at what a lot of Sabbath Alumni have been doing in the last few years and you see that these guys are musicians who want to create new stuff and get out there and push themselves. Ozzy, for reasons I'm unaware of, isn't in that group.

I'm reading between the lines. I believe it comes down to the fact that Tony Iommi knows he can't scrap Sabbath Mk 1 because of PR reasons. He also is probably bored to tears and frustrated with Sabbath's status right now with Ozzy. He also wants to dust off some of post-Ozzy stuff that has been criminally overlooked. Enter a golden opportunity with Dio to get back on the road and play some forgotten classics.

Put me in the camp of Sabbath fans who want something new. I don't care what lineup it takes. I'm ready to retire War Pigs and Paranoid and hear some other stuff from an amazing library of songs that has been overlooked in the last decade.

The Ozzy albums are great. No question about it.

    BUT
this is what Ozzy sounds like these days:

By the way - Black Sabbath mk.4 has written three all-new songs! The Reunion produced about the same number of songs in 10 years... Isn't this a draw for you?

Maybe, but what about the people who have already heard this all for so many times? They've made nothing new for 11 years, for fuck's sake!

Yeah, no one's denying that and so what? Does Sabbath have to end in nothing just because of the nostalgia? There's no way to bring back 1970. Not in 1978, 1985, 1992, 1998, and certainly not in 2005. Thanks God that Tony has moved forward, although I feel he's too indecisive at times. He should have moved forward with Hughes a year ago.

What I am thinking about is: What is the big deal that instead of playing 10 Ozzfest gigs Iommi reunite with Dio again. One thing does not necessarily remove the other. Black Sabbath have been playing Ozzfest for 10 years now. There is no suprises in the set list except for like one song a year. And now finally after years of waiting there is coming variation. Why are you sad over that? You have had 10 years of possability to see the originals. And now, for one magic summer you can see Heaven and Hell. This might be the last chance to see them. Next year it might be the usual Ozzfest again.

The Reunion occured 1998. Now the year is 2007. 2007-1998=9 and that is approximately 10 years. There is nothing wrong with five tours. But five tours in nine years all with almost the same set list might be a bit boring. Sorry that you never got a chance to see them. Maybe you can see Mk1 in the future because this new "Dio Era" is not permanent, far from it.

I recognise the hostility here too, we should be able to discuss things here (that's the point with the boards isn't it?) without constantly starting flame wars or whatever.

    <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A2VvnBo9AGc" target="_blank"><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A2VvnBo9AGc" target="_blank"><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A2VvnBo9AGc" target="_blank"><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A2VvnBo9AGc" target="_blank"><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A2VvnBo9AGc" target="_blank"><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A2VvnBo9AGc" target="_blank"><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A2VvnBo9AGc" target="_blank"><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A2VvnBo9AGc" target="_blank"><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A2VvnBo9AGc" target="_blank"><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A2VvnBo9AGc" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A2VvnBo9AGc</a></a></a></a></a></a></a></a></a></a>

and this is what Dio sounds like:
    <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DPlHn9o0b1c" target="_blank"><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DPlHn9o0b1c" target="_blank"><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DPlHn9o0b1c" target="_blank"><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DPlHn9o0b1c" target="_blank"><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DPlHn9o0b1c" target="_blank"><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DPlHn9o0b1c" target="_blank"><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DPlHn9o0b1c" target="_blank"><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DPlHn9o0b1c" target="_blank"><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DPlHn9o0b1c" target="_blank"><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DPlHn9o0b1c" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DPlHn9o0b1c</a></a></a></a></a></a></a></a></a></a>

Why would anyone prefer to see (or HEAR) Ozzy?

Ozzy sounds horrible, as usual. Iommi was great in that clip, however. Dio sounds pretty good, but not great. But, WOW, he is the ugliest man alive. He looks like a long haired version of Lon Chaney in the old Phantom of the Opera. Yikes, I'm pretty sure he would make my two year old burst out crying. Oh well, I still love Dio for the music.
How few there are who have courage enough to own their faults, or resolution enough to mend them.

The great thing about the original sabbath and the heaven and hell post ozzy era sabbath is how different they sound. Even though the name stayed, its in many ways a completely different band and equally as awesome.

And im sure this will not be the last time to see Tony Iommi or sabbath live, maybe this version of sabbath. But I doubt Tony Geezer bill and ozzy will sit back and say good job on heaven and hell everyone who was a part of it, good night.

If they dont do a new album thats fine, Maybe they will shake the set list up a bit? Do a headlining tour with a few more rarities? I bet ozzy could still do a wicked hand of doom.
