Default you can't spell "InstruMEnTAL" without "metal"

So, I made myself a collection of songs for a CD, which I called You Spell Instrumental Without Metal." But, I'm not too happy about every selection I made. I'm interested in adding a few more metal instrumentals to the list. Any suggestions would be appreciated. So far I have:

    Black Sabbath - Supertzar
Metallica - Orion, The Call of Ktulu, I Disappear
    BLS - Dr. Octavia
    Iron Maiden - Losfer Words
    Thunderbrew - Down the Hatch
    Yngwie Malmsteen - Leviathan

So I need some more. Hit me up!

    I Disappear is an instrumental?

Anyway, here's some good metal instrumentals. A couple of them are black metal, but I think you'd probably enjoy them.

Lamb of God - Ashes of the Wake
    Pantera - Pre-Hibernation
    Emperor - The Wanderer
    Burzum - Naar Himmelen Klarner
    Iced Earth - 1776
    Rammstein - 5/4

How is I Disappear an instrumental? Anyway, Eddie did a bunch (Eruption, Cathedral, 316, Spanish Fly, name a few).

    Black Sabbath tracks:
    E5150
    The Dark
    Stonehenge
    The Battle Of Tyr
    The Gates Of Hell

    Deep Purple:
    Wring The Neck
    Lazy

That's all I can think of right now.

None of those Black Sabbath songs are even remotely metal. They're just segues into albums or songs. Lame.

Metallica's "I Disappear" was released as a 2-track single. The first with lyrics, the second without. The one without lyrics is much, much better.

The music I play (for those obsessed with subgenres) is Retrogressive Instrumetal. Go to http://www.mp3music4me.com click on artist "Racer" and click on audio and listen.

There are plenty of better bands there, too! lol

Thanks for the song suggestions. I couldn't find the Pantera song on my usual source site, though. I really like Pantera's music, but pretty much despise any "singing" done by Phil. So I was really looking forward to an instrumental. Oh well.

I also forgot to add that I included the Trouble song "Endtime" to my list as well. Great stuff. They are so Sabbath-like it's scary!

    Racer,

OK, I'm on your first song and I am diggin' your style! Definitely can tell you sort of like this obscure band called Black Sabbath.

I don't know how to say this nicely, so I'll just say it: production could be better. Especially the drums. They sound buried and mushy.

Otherwise, I really like your stuff. Don't forget me when your famous. I want front row at one at one of your shows.

Indeed. I downloaded and listened to the song. Definitely good stuff, and it may make the final cut. For sure it goes in my music folder of "Instrumentals," but there may or may not be room for it on an 80-minute CD.

But... but... they're not part of the song's lyrics though!

    Haha.

Also, what did you think of the Emperor and Burzum songs?

Yeah, I liked the other ones. The Lamb of God was good music, but I don't agree with their political garbage, so it turned me off.

Lazy has vocals. Son of Alerik however doesn't and is really a superb instrumental.

I won't be famous, though ... I'm too old to worry about it. Glad you like the riffage though!

    That's cool! Thanks ... enjoy!

Keep in mind that most of them are very low-quality mp3s ... it was the only way I could upload that many given the space available. I tend to put the drums low in the mix because I'm a guitar player first and foremost, I was weaned on Sabbath (who were often criticised in the early days for having the drums too low in the mix), and they're not real drums anyway so I didn't want to "feature" them.

They're not all metal-based tunes, but most are. Enjoy ... and thanks! There are a lot of other good artists on that site you'll probably enjoy as well when you have the chance.

I don't think that one of the best metal songs ever, and also best instrumentals ever, was not mentioned: "Black Star" by Yngwie Malmsteen.

These are some slower songs from bands known more for being fast.

Sepultura - Kaiowas (Live version, studio vers is acoustic but the live version is electric & VERY METAL \M/)
    Death Angel - I.P.F.S.
Testament - Confusion Fusion, Musical Death A Dirge.
    Death - Cosmic Sea

And there's always my favorite title of an instrumental ever -
    Prong - "InterMENSTRUAL"

"Ecstasy of Gold" is not a Metallica song. Its a tape of an Enrico Morricone song that they play before their concerts. Besides, I think Jon wants metal instrumentals, not just instrumental songs by metal bands.

When it comes to Transylvania, I'd check out Iced Earth's version, personally. They heavily improved on the original.

I mean, I actually want to go out of my way to listen to the Iced Earth version.
