Missed this thread earlier. Good to see it's still alive. Basically I'm in agreement with dev and RLP, but I know what 8-bit was getting at. There are a couple of classics that nobody's mentioned.

Still I'm Sad - The Yardbirds (the original is nothing like Rainbow's cover)

Paint It Black - The Rolling Stones
Is it just me, or does somebody else believe it?
I'm not alone, and I'm not afraid.
There's just one thing to say, after all.

No one's mentioned Judas Priest Run of the Mill yet. Looking back on one's own wasted life...

    Mine:

Triumph-Killing Time-I'm trying to get my life together and this song resonates. In many ways it literally speaks to me when I listen to it.
    Rush-The Pass-I lost a friend to suicide.
    Others with no particular reason:
    Metallica-Fade to Black
    The Beatles-Nowhere Man
    The Rolling Stones-Paint It Black
The Black Crowes-Cursed Diamond (Their "Paint It Black")
Megadeth-A Tout Le Monde (yet strangely liberating as I listen to it too)
Black Sabbath-Too Late (I always feel like I'm wondering if I've run out of time when I listen to this song)
    Aerosmith-Seasons of Whither
    Led Zeppelin-The Rain Song
U2-One (personal memory relating to something I mentioned earlier in this post.
AC/DC-Ride On (even their depressing songs have an air of humor.)

Add another post? Sure why not.

Alice In Chains - Down In A Hole
"Even with so much bad blood between us... It's funny... Now that I'm actually face to face with him again... The hatred is gone. All I feel is a deep sense of longing. And pity. Did Zero really hate me? Or... Did he fear me?" - Big Boss
