Default Ronnie James Dio Just Passed Away

Unfortunately this is true... from Wendy on DIO's webpage

"Today my heart is broken, Ronnie passed away at 7:45am 16th May. Many, many friends and family were able to say their private good-byes before he peacefully passed away. Ronnie knew how much he was loved by all. We so appreciate the love and support that you have all given us. Please give us a few days of privacy to deal with this terrible loss. Please know he loved you all and his music will live on forever." Love, Wendy
RIP Ronnie, youll live forever thru your music and you will be missed... thanks for everything! I will never forget you!

Right as I went to Blabbermouth and read the article, I was listening to Heaven and Hell live from Oakland in 1992, right as I clicked the link to the article, the fast pace part of the song was starting up...and I started to cry.

I had a terrible feeling that this was going to happen today after reading the rumors. At least he got to make one final record in The Devil You Know and got to do the thing he loved most at such an age. You will be deeply missed! We love you Dio! You will live on forever!

OMG! I am stunned and at a lost for words. It's hit me like a freight train. What happened? May the Lord take you into His bussom and may your soul rest in peace "pequeno gigante." I have been a fan since I was a teenager back in 1980, thanks for the memories.

Rest in Peace Ronnie & thank you for all the music & shows that I have enjoyed over the years from Rainbow thru the Heaven & Hell show in Dallas a few years back. i will always remember how generous you were to me when I met you on the Dream Evil tour & you signed a huge poster for the record store I used to work at. This is a sad day & I pray for you & your family.

    Ronald Padavona, farewell.

I never met you, but you accompanied me through my roughest years.

From the first moment I heard you sing "Neon Knights" back in 1981, you were so often the voice for what I was thinking and feeling.

The world of heavy metal, and my own personal thoughts, shall not be the same.

Goodbye, Man On The Silver Mountain.
He is not here. He has risen!

I'm googling this story and there are CONFLICTING reports out there.

A lot of sourcs are saying Ronnie is NOT DEAD. The Dio website does not respond.

    What's going on here?

Very Sad to lose him. May the finest blessings go to his wife and family. Thrilled to have all the great music and memories he left behind and the importance he had on Black Sabbath and the Metal world. Rest In Peace Mr. Padovana and best wishes to your family.

I think I will listen to Lonely Is The Word now.

I admittedly caught on to RJD's music very late (was always more a punk rocker than metal guy), but made up for lost time over the last few years and was really happy to see the band kill it in Boston last year.

rock on, Ronnie. you were one of the best.

Ronnie, an average singer would be lucky to front one great band. There was and is nothing average about you, though - you did it with three. Thank you for every note you ever recorded for us, and enjoy your well-deserved spot in rock history. Thank you for being the best at what you did, Ronnie. Enjoy the reward that awaits you.

Dio was my favourite singer of all time. Noone can match his voice and I doubt anyone will ever be able to. Heavy metal has lost one of it's TRUE greats and pioneers today. It is sad to see an idol an inspiration, who still wanted to do so much and still had so much to live for, pass away. I take consolation in the fact that he at least got to say his goodbyes to his friends and family and that he passed away peacefully.

Rest in peace Ronnie. You died much too young. I am not the praying sort, but you will be in my thoughts forever.
