The poem on Black Sabbath (the album)

This little piece is really great, the one with falling rain, and other dark themes. It has a nice moody feel to it, that perfectly suits the album.

The thing is, I've always wondered who wrote it? Does anyone have a clue about that? And does it have a name?

Geezer wrote it, and as far as I know it has no title.

Yeah, a reaaly good poem with some excellent imagery, I'm not surprised that Geezer wrote it. It goes hand in hand with the artwork.

Geezer got interested in Satanism and occult. He didnt got into it he was just interested. Ozzy wrote the lyrics as warning about satanism.

The poem on the inside cover of the original release of Black Sabbath was NOT and I repeat NOT written by Geezer.
This was included on the album after it had gone to the pressing plant and was added by the record company without the bands knowledge.

I heard that it was just the upside down cross that was put there by the record company.

FYI, I searched the mailing list archives for "Still Falls the Rain" too. I couldn't find anything there. The Ozzy FAQ that's been floating around the web for some time doesn't have any addtional information either. The claim that somebody in the band wrote this seems to be based on pure guess.

I've always like this poem from the first time I read it, dark and gloomy, one feels like he's standing right next to the lady in black on the album cover when he reads it.
