    Default Peterborough, UK, 1970

I found out recently that Black Sabbath played less than a mile down the road from where I used to live!

They were booked before the release of the first album to play this tiny venue called The Spinning Wheel. By the time of the gig, the album had charted and the place was rammed. I bet it was a great gig!

Very cool Ady! Love Sabbath historical stuff like this.
"Without Black Sabbath there never would have been an Ozzy, and without Ozzy there never would have been a Black Sabbath"
"If there ever was a band whose voice is so significant and distinct, that band is Black Sabbath and the voice is Ozzy Osbourne"

It's amazing. The Spinning Wheel Club was literally just a back room in a pub called the Bull and Dolphin which closed down sometime during the early eighties.

    Here are a few quotes I got from a local facebook page about it;

"I was 'roadie' for Black Sabbath' when they played the B&D - for about 15 minutes I was walking into town to meet pals at the Bell & Oak and then we were going to see Sabbath. I stopped to talk with the hairy ones as they off-loaded their kit and got a, "Come on kid... give a hand""

"Black Sabbath – Spinning Wheel Club, Bull & Dolphin – 27th March 1970
the band were booked when they were pretty much unknown but by the time they turned up to a packed Bull & Dolphin, they had reached #8 in the UK album charts with their first release. Their seminal single “Paranoid” was still four months away! I could not make it myself as I was 7 years old at the time. "

" ..... and they came back in the summer of 1970 to play in a marquee in a field near Baston !!!" (Baston is a small village that's close by)

No Ronn I do not have it, Doc would probably be the best guy to ask.

I didn't see a Date for the Peterborough show on Joe's tour list, but that doesn't mean it did not happen as March 27th is an open date. As far as the setlist, this is what Joe posted:

    Typical Set List
    ◾Paranoid
    ◾Iron Man
    ◾N.I.B.
    ◾Black Sabbath
    ◾Walpurgis
    ◾Hand of Doom
    ◾Fairies Wear Boots
    ◾Guitar Solo
    ◾Behind the Wall of Sleep
    ◾Rat Salad

Obviously, they were playing songs from their second album in pre-release states, and this was not a consistant set list across the tour
