Bill Ward's Audio Diaries now as a podcast

A recent trend in online audio publication is that of podcasting. Podcasting is where you subscribe to an rss feed like you would any other rss news feed. The difference with a podcast feed is that it will pull down media - in this case Bill's audio diaries!

It's called podcasting, as it originted with the Apple iPod. You don't need an iPod to make use of this, however. What's cool about podcasting is that you don't have to seek out Bill's site to get the diaries, they'll be automatically delivered to whatever you're using as your software. It's all very cool, and all very automatic.

First off, if you're already doing podcasting, then this is the link you will want - it's the feed for Bill's Diary Podcast:

http://www.billward.com/diarypodcast.xml

If you don't know what podcasting is, and might be interested in it, check out this link. this link, and this link These are some good explanations of podcasting, and how to get involved.

Small delay this week

Hey gang. Thanks for all the reviewsa and photos sent in from the tour so far. Early this week I'm going to be a little behind - I have a big project going on at work, and I have to take care of that. Paycheck's gotta come first, ya know.

But please continue to send in reports and photos when you have 'em. I will use what you send.

Thanks for visiting!

Neil Murray to go under the knife

Former Black Sabbath bassist Neil Murray will be having surgery next month for carpal tunnel syndrome. Tony Iommi had the same thing some years ago, had the operation, and came through it fine - so here's to hoping all goes well for Mr. Murray.

Here's something Neil wrote himself about the situation:

M3 bassist Neil Murray (ex-WHITESNAKE, BLACK SABBATH) will be out of action during July as he has to have an operation on his left wrist for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, which affects the movement in his fingers. He will be temporarily replaced for M3's festival appearance at Open Air Hamburg Harley Days Festival on July 16 by David Levy, who has worked with M3 guitarists Bernie Marsden and Micky Moody (both ex-WHITESNAKE) many times before. Neil should be back playing in the QUEEN musical "We Will Rock You" by the beginning of August and will return for the M3 "classic WHITESNAKE" gigs in Bildein (Austria) and Heidenheim (Germany) on August 26 and August 27, respectively.

If you'd like to read more on Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, you can do so at this link over at webmd.com.

Tony Iommi Fused Update

I wanted to say a few things about next month's release of Tony Iommi's third solo album, "Fused".

I received my promo copy of Fused from Tony's management earlier this week, and it's been in my CD player(s) almost non stop. For awhile now we've seen quotes from Tony saying that he's really excited about the new stuff. I can see why after listening to it - it's awesome! I'll have much more to say later on when I post a full review of the album closer to release of the album. I need some more time to properly digest it before I do a proper review.

I also received word that there will be a bonus track for the Japanese version of Fused, but no details yet what the title is. More on that when I get it.

In other Fused news, the album is now available for pre-order through Amazon.com, as well as also being available at Amazon's UK store. Here are some ordering links for you to use:

Pre-Order through Amazon.com
Pre-Order through Amazon.co.uk

You're going to want this when it's released in mid July! :)

If you want to prepare yourself for the release of Fused, you can check out these albums, too. Two of the three feature the Fused team of Tony Iommi & Glenn Hughes. The "Iommi" album doesn't have Glenn Hughes, but is packed with Iommi riffs. :)

Black Sabbath's Seventh Star (1986)
Tony Iommi's "Iommi" (2000)
Tony Iommi's "The 1996 Dep Sessions" (2004)

Geezer Butler and iTunes

As you should know by now, Geezer's new album Ohmwork is out. You should already have bought your copy by now. But in case you didn't, I wanted to take a moment and let you know that it is available electronically via Apple's iTunes music store. You can reach Ohmwork directly by clicking here.

However, that's not all I have to report on today. iTunes also has a "Celebrity Playlist" feature where they get an artist to put together a list of songs they like, and make that playlist available to all on iTunes. Well, Geezer Butler has done one of these, and if you have iTunes on your computer, you can check out Geezer's playlist here. It's an extremely eclectic collection of songs, I think you'll be surprised at what you find in there. Remember, this list is put together by Geezer Butler himself - one of the heaviest bassists around. Remember that when you check out his playlist on iTunes. :)

The 2005 Tour has Started - First Review is in!

Well, last night was the first live gig on Black Sabbath's 2005 live tour schedule. They played a small, initimate gig in the Aylesbury Civic Centre at Aylesbury, England. This was a warm-up gig for the European tour. Overnight, I received the first tour report for the gig (thanks to Steve Beach), and I've placed it online. The one thing that most people want to know is the set list. Here's the set list from last night's gig:

1. NIB
2. After Forever
3. War Pigs
4. Dirty Women
5. Fairies Wear Boots
6. Symptom of the Universe / Sweet Leaf / Electric Funeral
7. Iron Man
8. Into the Void
9. Black Sabbath
10. The Wizard
11. Sabbath Bloody Sabbath / Paranoid
12. Sleeping Village / Children of the Grave

Now keep in mind, this is the first gig, and was a warmup gig. The set list on shows like that are frequently different than the standard set list on the tour. So I wouldn't expect to see all this on the rest of the tour. Would be nice, but I woudln't bet on it. :)

Anyway, make sure and check out the FULL REVIEW of the concert from Steve on the concert report page for this gig.

If you attend any of the 2005 live dates, I'll be glad to use your submission of either a ticket stub scan, concert review, photos. Send 'em in!

Got a Spare 12 Million Dollars?

Normally, I wouldn't cover things like this, as it's not legitimate Sabbath news. However, I found this fairly amusing, and had to say something about it.

If you have 12 million dollars, you can buy Ozzy's former house in the LA area that appeared on the Osbournes TV show. Check out the details of the house via this realtor site link. :)

I'm still alive

Sorry for no updates in awhile, the new baby has been keeping me busy, and my free time has been severely cut into.

I'm hoping to make a dent in the backlog this weekend. We'll see how it goes. Thanks for visiting!
