BLACK & BLUE TO BE RELEASED ON DVD

Also over the weekend, I received a report of a news story about the old Black Sabbath / Blue Oyster Cult concert video "Black & Blue" being released on DVD later this year. Here’s the news story I saw:

BLACK SABBATH and BLUE OYSTER CULT’s legendary "Black & Blue" concert, filmed at Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale, New York on October 15th, 1980, will finally be issued on DVD via Classic Pictures. The DVD version of the long out-of-print video will apparently include all 14 tracks (seven by each act) contained in the original film, and is tentatively scheduled for release later this year.

The complete track listing for the DVD is as follows:

BLACK SABBATH
01. War Pigs
02. Neon Knights
03. N.I.B.
04. Iron Man
05. Paranoid
06. Heaven And Hell
07. Die Young

BLUE OYSTER CULT
01. Doctor Music
02. Cities On Flame
03. Divine Wind
04. Godzilla
05. Roadhouse Blues
06. Born To Be Wild
07. Here’s Johnny

Look for an official press release soon.

I wrote their press folks to get some more information on it. Also, since the company is in the UK, it could be possible that it would be released as a Region 2 DVD only (meaning US DVD players couldn’t play it). However, that’s personal speculation on my part – I’m attempting to confirm these issues as you read this. Hope to have an update soon on this.

UPDATE: Right after I uploaded this story, I heard back from Classic Pictures. They tell me that there will be different region releases. The UK release date is September 23rd, and the US release date is in October (through Ventura distribution) – the final release date is not yet set. More info as I get it. Thanks to Blabbermouth for the original story.
