Tony Iommi has Cancer

This just posted from the Official Black Sabbath Facebook page.

With the news that Black Sabbath’s Tony Iommi has been diagnosed with the early stages of lymphoma, his bandmates would like everyone to send positive vibes to the guitarist at this time. Iommi is currently working with his doctors to establish the best treatment plan–the “IRON MAN” of Rock & Roll remains upbeat and determined to make a full and successful recovery.

This comes as Black Sabbath–Ozzy Osbourne (vocals), Tony Iommi (guitar), Geezer Butler (bass) and Bill Ward (drums)–are writing and recording their first album in 33 years in Los Angeles (still set for release this fall) with producer Rick Rubin. They will now go to the UK to continue to work with Tony. Further information will be released as it becomes available.

  13. I heard a couple of months ago about Tony’s cancer. Well, no words at the moment. Tony, you ARE THE LORD OF RIFFS, THE DEVIL ITSELF OF THE GUITAR, YOU ARE THE IRON MAN, I know you’ll get well. I still remember when I saw you in front of me playing with the band in 2009 here in Chile. Just get well lord of the riffs, you are one of my main influences in my guitar playing. I hope I can meet you sometime. Long Live Tony and long live Sabbath!! Long Live Heavy Metal!!

  14. If I can do it, you can do it Tony! Just remain active. Do NOT sit on your ass and the “pity-pot”. I briefly fell into that “trap”. Then I realized I still had MUCH to do, so off I went, “back in the saddle” and haven’t stopped since. I am 45 years old and have MANY years to go, and VERY MUCH looking forward to hearing your new album. Keep rockin’ Tony. Se you soon!!
