My Twitter Feed

Something I’ve been thinking about for awhile now I’ve gone ahead and done.  I’ve changed my twitter account name.  For the longest time I’ve operated under “blacksabbathweb”.   When I first grabbed the name it was a quick and dirty request, something I didn’t put a lot of thought into.  As the majority of what I do was on the website, that’s why it had “web” in there.  However, lately, my followers list has grown and I do a lot of stuff there.  I felt it was time to pick a new name for a couple of reasons:

  1. The length of the name.  “blacksabbathweb” is 15 characters.  When you have just 140, taking 15 for the username is a lot.   Wanted something shorter.  As I’m well aware every character can help there.
  2. Lately I’m being confused more and more with being the real band.  Why this is possible is beyond me, other than the issue of people just not paying attention.  But I wanted to change to something that has “fans” in it.  Hopefully that will get the point across more.

So after much consideration, I’ve changed from blacksabbathweb to sabbathfans – I chatted with a few people about the name, and I’m going to go forward with this.    The new name is 11 characters, only dropped 4, but IMO, you can’t go TOO small, otherwise your point isn’t likely to be gotten across.  Plus had I had to have some version of sabbath and I wanted fans in there, so I wasn’t going to just 4 or 5 characters with those requirements.

Now, if you’re one of the 23,258 people that are currently following me, I want to say THANK YOU.  It’s already way beyond what I dreamed it would be.  As you have noticed, it’s a mish mash of Black Sabbath news and other music discussions.   If you have any ideas of what you’d like to see on the Twitter feed, please let me know.

BUT, and this is important.  You won’t have to do anything if you already following me.  The new name updates on all of your lists, so you won’t get disconnected, and you won’t have to do anything to follow the new name.  I still retain the old name, mostly so nobody could grab it and pretend to be me, but I won’t be using the old name anymore.

If you have any questions, please let me know.

  2. Mr FU sez,

Joe – you going to do your review of 13 soon? Love to hear it.

Of course, I’ve listened to it about 100 times since the CD was released so I have my own 2 cents. But, you the Sabbath master, so the world should here your thoughts!!!

  3. Hey Joe, not to be a pain in the ass, but I think you could have made it a little shorter by calling it Sab-fans and people would have known. Just my two cents.
