If you participated in 2026 Record Store Day, you’ll know that there was an entry there for Black Sabbath. It was a new 2026 remaster of the 1986 album “Seventh Star“. It was a fresh remaster, and included a “remix” of the single “No Stranger to Love”. In reality that extra track was just the version of the song they used in the music video which has a different mix and some background vocals not on the base album cut of the track.
If you were also paying attention in 2025, Tony did the exact same thing with the Eternal Idol album. There was a record store Day variant back in April, and then in the summer that same remaster became more widely available. That’s what’s happening here in 2026 with Seventh Star. Next month, the new 2026 remaster will get wide release.
The recording on the record store day version and the wide release black vinyl are identical, the only difference is the swirl vinyl for RSD.
Coming in vinyl, CD, and digital formats, you’ll able to get this anywhere you consume your music. The vinyl will be standard black (unlike the red swirl for RSD). This will release on 10 Jul 2026. As far as I can tell, the digital formats aren’t available in the US yet – but will be closer to or on release day.
There are pre-order links up now at various places, I’ll include some links below:
USA/NORTH AMERICA
- Amazon US: [ vinyl | compact disc ]
- Rhino Store: [ vinyl | compact disc ]
EUROPE
- Amazon UK: [ vinyl | compact disc ]
- Roughtrade BMG Store: [ link ] (note both are available on same link)
Is there anything coming for Record Store Day 2027? If there is I’m not aware of it, but I know a certain purple covered album that could use some attention. Here’s to hoping.
